Q1 2021 UK Android App Performance for Meal Kits & Specialty Foods

In the first quarter of 2021, the United Kingdom's delivered meal kits and specialty foods sector saw varying degrees of engagement on the Android platform, according to data provided by Sensor Tower. Here's a snapshot of how the top applications performed.

HelloFresh: Meal Kit Delivery showed a robust start in January with downloads peaking at nearly 15K in the first week, before experiencing a gradual decline to approximately 10K by the end of March. Weekly active users (WAU) followed an upward trend, climbing from around 61K to over 80K in mid-March, before slightly dropping to approximately 75K towards the quarter's end.

Gousto also experienced a strong start in January with over 6K downloads in the first week. However, the trend saw a decrease over the quarter, finishing at around 3K downloads in the last week of March. In contrast, the WAU showed more resilience, with an initial jump from approximately 13K to 17K and reaching a peak of over 20K in early March, before stabilizing around the 19K mark towards the quarter's closure.

For Vivino: Buy the Right Wine, the quarter was a bit of a rollercoaster in terms of downloads, starting at around 1.5K, dropping to 630 in mid-January, and then experiencing fluctuations, ending slightly lower at 769 downloads. The WAU saw a significant dip from roughly 16K at the beginning of the quarter to about 9K in late March, although it experienced a small recovery to over 10K by the quarter's end.

Naked Wines had a modest performance with downloads starting at 398 and peaking at 920 in late January, followed by a downward trend to 420 by the end of March. The data for WAU was not provided.

Lastly, Mindful Chef had a fluctuating quarter, with downloads beginning at over 1K, dropping to a low of 232 in late March, but recovering to 502 in the final week. Similar to Naked Wines, the WAU data was not available.
